About Salisbury Orientation

(Salisbury, England)

Salisbury stands on the southern side of England, in the county of Wiltshire. Famous for its spectacular cathedral, which dominates the entire city with its tall spire, Salisbury is steeped in history and features many historic buildings.

Salisbury Orientation: Layout and Directions

Much of Salisbury is divided by the scenic River Avon, which meanders around the heart of the city. Central Salisbury is home to an enormous selection of shops which line the many streets and are all within easy walking distance of each other. Salisbury city centre can be somewhat confusing to navigate on both foot and by car, with a number of small inter-connecting roads and one-way streets.

The outskirts of Salisbury offer a number of major 'A' roads, which connect the city to many nearby towns and attractions, including Wilton, Southampton and the coastal resort of Bournemouth. Salisbury is also just a short distance from the world-famous site of Stonehenge, which stands on the expansive Salisbury Plain.
